Tai Chi

Sherrill Posing
A series of 108 flowing movements that combine the benefits of aerobic conditioning, stretching and balance training, tai chi is an ancient martial art used to enhance health in all body systems. Tai chi leaves the practitioner feeling relaxed and energized, without the microtrauma to muscles associated with the "pain" of exercising. Specific movements enhance the functioning of various organ systems of the body as well as correct alignment and use of muscles and tendons. Particularly beneficial for the creation of a healthy spine and effective neural stimulation for both muscles and organ systems.

You do not have to be in great physical shape to begin learning-people of all ages and conditions can do tai chi. This system of exercise is a great form of preventitive medicine for the general population as well as a general conditioner for those participating in active sports.

No special equipment is required, other than shoes that offer good support and balance and comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Once you have mastered the basic set, you will have a life-long form of exercise that is without cost. The beach can be a great place to do tai chi with your friends and family! Instruction in the first 17 moves available in downtown Winnipeg Beach and through Evergreen Continuing Education in Gimli. Call 389-3005 for more information.
